The word “transparency” has been tossed around lately in my spirit. What does that word mean and more importantly, what am I supposed to glean from this?  Transparency can be defined as having the property of transmitting rays of light so that the bodies can be distinctly seen through it. The free passage of light. Clarity and clearness.

As I ponder here for a moment, I think about my individual transparency with God, myself, and those closest to me. There is often a part or a piece of myself that I think I am hiding.  In actuality not only does God know that part, he is waiting on us to stop deflecting that part of our self. What is that superficial layer that you are holding onto that you believe protects you? What is that “thing” that you think you are hiding? And more importantly why? In Romans 8: 1-2 “Therefore, there is now no more condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”  And in Hebrews 4:13 “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.

Instead of transparency, the walls we have built actually refract the rays of light.  1 John 1:5 “ This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is Light, and in him is no darkness at all.” God’s light, his love, the Holy Spirit is trying to permeate our inner core. We must increase our capacity to receive more of the Holy Spirit. This greater infilling of the Holy Spirit will open our hearts to greater love, joy, & peace. When the Holy Spirit occupies more and more of you, you will become more transparent. Your need to cover up and hide what is already known will become insignificant. Clarity of purpose will become clear. Christ in you will be distinctly seen. Transparency is freedom!

What is God revealing to you in the area of transparency?
